I fully intend on growing them this year - they were the earliest squash to disappear from the markets, and a decent keeper. I heated chicken pot pie filling in one last week when I didn't feel like making a crust.

That's a clever and creative use of ingredients. I don't think I've ever tried a carnival squash, but I'm going to give it a try next time I come across one!

I had the Flavor Bible in my hands at Borders last night but I got mad at myself for spending money so I didn't buy it (even with the 40% off, it still was almost $20). I think it will be my next purchase though. I looked through it and it definitely looked like something that I would use regularly!

I'm still so new at all this that I don't feel comfortable getting away from recipes. I'm "altering" much more than I was though, so that's helping my creativity.

Also, I just bought this book where you look up what vegetable you bought from the farmer's market and it gives you recipes you can make with it, organized by season. I'm looking forward to using it!
